Recommended Guidelines for Lowell Women’s Week Events


Women in Charge: Strengthening Our Lives, Our Community, Our World

Lowell Women’s Week events celebrate women

  1. Those who have come before us
  2. Women of today who guide our cities and communities forward
  3. Young women who represent a future bright with promise and vision

LWW events offer inspiring and educational programming that encourages all women and girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Programming often is focused on:

  1. Resisting gender stereotyping
  2. Accepting, appreciating, and celebrating ourselves as we are
  3. Gaining and celebrating confidence and the power in ourselves
  4. Safety and healthful life styles
  5. Women’s work and Economic Independence
  6. Civic Engagement/Community Work
  7. Arts and Handcrafts–the many ways women add beauty to the world.

Criteria

  • Events are designed to educate and celebrate the lives of women.

  • LWW events are open to all.

  • Unless noted, events take place in Lowell.

  • To be included as an LWW activity, interested participants are invited to attend LWW planning meetings. The schedule and locations are posted on the web site. www.lowellwomensweek.org

  • LWW events do not fundraise for private parties or commercial businesses.

  • If a fee is charged for an event, agency representatives must participate in the LWW planning committee. The event must be part of the regular programming of the agency/organization.

  • All events are subject to approval by the LWW Coordinating Committee, which is currently composed of representatives from Community Teamwork, Lowell National Historical Park, Middlesex Community College, Saints Medical Center, University of Mass-Lowell, United Teen Equality Center and the New England Quilt Museum.
