LOWELL
WOMEN'S WEEK
ORAL
STORIES PROJECT
www.lowellwomensweek.org
SHARE
YOUR STORY WITH US
This
year Lowell Women's Week celebrates its 15 th anniversary
with the theme, “Women's Stories: Crystallizing
Our Role in History and Our World.”
We
want to gather all kinds of women's stories—from extraordinary
experiences to everyday occurrences—that give us a glimpse
into the lives of women. The ideal length is between
3 and 5 minutes. Some ideas you might consider:
A story about a woman or women
in your life who inspire you
A story about a pivotal moment
in your life
A story about a memory that
you keep close to your heart
A story about a family tradition
that you are passing on
A story about your struggles
A story about your triumphs
All
of the stories are important. All of them are facets
of the lives women lead. All of them help us crystallize
our understanding of our roles in history and our world.
WHAT
HAPPENS WITH THE STORIES
All
the stories will be voice only recordings and will be
heard on LTC Channels 8 & 95, Lowell's public access
TV stations, while the Community Bulletin Board plays.
Some of the stories will be illustrated by graphic arts
students at Greater Lowell Technical High School, compiled
into a book or books for display, and the artwork will
be edited with the audio to air as a special on LTC.
Background music will be added with the help of UMass
Lowell music students. We also hope to develop a
curriculum guide and make it and the stories available
to local schools.

This
program is supported in part by a grant from
the Lowell Cultural Council, a local agency
which is supported by the Massachusetts
Cultural
Council, a state agency.
